Lilli and Holden were finally reunited. The Riekmann's arrived in their enormous VW bus that Thorsten somehow drove up the hill to the villa in Castelleto and it was absolutely wonderful to see Maren jump out of the bus with Lykka (whom we had never met before) in her arms and Lilli following behind. Holden and Lilli greeted each other with a bug hug and kiss and were very happy to see each other. I think Holden really enjoyed having someone close to his own age to visit.

Almost immediately we went to the Spianata for gelato, well after some bad pizza that I had to later redeem myself for. While they visited we went to Bocadasse and Nervi and the children swam and collected loads of sea glass and we ate at better restaurants like Eataly and the pizzeria in Righi (for Lilli's birthday dinner) and went to many cafés and drank lots of coffee so we could stay up late talking.

And we had an incredibly eventful weekend with the villa party on Friday evening, Lilli's birthday on Saturday, and Cinque Terre on Sunday.
Wow, those smiles! We miss Holden's smile around here, it's good to catch one or two in your pictures :)
